Live and Let Live, Bringsty Common - Living history Weekend

Live & Let Live Living History weekend May 23rd-25th 2008
This event was supported by some of the members of Worcester Re enactors from Captain Charles Ffox's Company (King's Lifeguard Regiment of Foote), and Colonel John Birch's Regiment.
Friday evening was calm and warm enabling an easy setting up of camp. This consisted of three soldiers tents, a 'lean to' canopy, an officers tent, and the camp kitchen along with a couple of fires. A nice little compact scene was hereby set for the public to view.
The camp kitchen was wonderfully managed by Sharon, providing us with some fantastic tasty authentic meals, and a good display of its preparation (even in aweful weather conditions).
Saturday started off well enough, but then the dreaded typical Bank Holiday weather started to move in with a vengance! Yep! Gales and heavy rain...thus people didn't want to make the effort to climb the wet grassy slope to visit our camp.
Brian was kept quiet for a while by having an axe and chopping us some firewood, but boredom set in and the musketeers couldn't resist any longer and fired off some shots...."****, 'have a care!' would be good Brian!". That of course woke Angus the dog up, who, up until then was enjoying his first muster asleep in the tent out of the wind.
From here on in the weather seemed to worsten.
Sunday was not good to do anything, apart from firing off some musket shots outside the pub, when there was a couple of breaks in the weather. Best to sit in the pub then and drink and play nine mens morris....I'm sure Brian cheats! Angus likes the pub too!
Bank Holiday Monday was much the same and we decided to 'call it a day' by lunchtime due to the weather and no visitors, and so retired to the pub....even the Morris Dancers didn't turn up because they cancelled!
Despite all of the bad weather which spoilt the event, we all seemed not to be too down-hearted, a bit damp, but OK. Sue and Ian of the L&LL would welcome us back at anytime, with the possibility of letting us use the area by the fire in the pub to do an authentic cooking display.
So a big Huzzah! to you all who turned up and stuck it out through wind and rain...well done and thank you.
